Role Description

This role involves joining the Rater community as a casual contractor to help evaluate important soft skills of higher education applicants through the Casper assessment.

  • Become a certified Rater.
  • Complete virtual onboard training to learn how to rate test responses of applicants to academic programs, including how to combat implicit bias.
  • Participate in ongoing refresher training and complete annual Rater recertification.
  • Read and review applicant text and video responses, compare them to the overall pool of test takers, and assign scores following scoring guidelines.
  • Provide feedback to help improve and optimize the Casper test, platforms, and content.

Qualifications

  • Be an Australian citizen.
  • Currently reside in Australia.
  • Have your own desktop/laptop computer to work on.
  • Have no plans to apply to and become a student in a program using Casper in the next 12-18 months.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively in writing.
  • Demonstrate soft skills: Communication, Self-awareness, Professionalism, Empathy.

Requirements

  • Regularly participates in rating responses.
  • Stays up-to-date on annual recertification training.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, demonstrated by prompt responsiveness to surveys and feedback requests.
  • Approach responses with empathy, understanding the impact on the applicant's academic career.
  • Display a high level of self-awareness, recognizing personal biases and actively working to mitigate them.
  • Conduct themselves with professionalism, ensuring a respectful environment at all times.

Steps to become a Casper Rater

  • Submit Your Application: Complete the online application form to determine if you meet the basic qualifying criteria.
  • Take a Mini-Casper and Reading Comprehension Test: If criteria are met, take a shortened version of the Casper test and a reading comprehension test.
  • Meet a Member of the Rating Team: Successful candidates will have a 20-minute video conversation with a member of the Rating team.
  • Complete Paid Online Rater Training: Complete training modules within 5 business days.
  • Become a Certified Rater: Successfully complete the necessary steps to become a certified Casper Test Rater.

Success as a Casper Test Rater

  • Regular participation in rating responses.
  • Staying up-to-date on annual recertification training.
  • Strong communication skills, with prompt responsiveness to surveys and feedback requests.
  • Empathetic approach to responses, recognizing the impact on applicants' academic careers.
