[Hiring] Board Member @National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children

Role Description

We are currently seeking mission-driven, experienced leaders to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a critical role in guiding the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring effective governance, and championing our efforts to protect and advocate for children living in substance-affected environments. This is a volunteer leadership position that supports NADEC’s mission through oversight, collaboration, and outreach.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings (virtual)
• Help shape organizational policy, programs, and national partnerships
• Serve on committees as needed (e.g., fundraising, governance, outreach)
• Act as an ambassador for NADEC within your professional and community networks
• Support organizational goals through strategic input, board-level voting, and annual initiatives
• Participate in our annual meeting each July, including member and board position voting

Qualifications

• Previous nonprofit board experience or equivalent leadership/oversight roles
• Demonstrated commitment to child welfare, justice, public safety, or substance use prevention
• Professional background in one or more of the following areas:
  • Law enforcement, child protective services, or first responder roles
  • Legislation or public policy related to children, family services, or substance use
  • Healthcare, behavioral health, or social work with vulnerable populations
  • Community advocacy or education on substance-related harm or child endangerment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a passion for interdisciplinary teamwork
• Willingness to engage in fundraising, partnership-building, and public speaking (as comfortable)
