Role Description

As a Member of the Board of Directors at Aeon for Ocean, you will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the organization. You will oversee organizational policies, financial health, and overall governance, ensuring we fulfill our mission effectively and ethically.

Your Impact on our Mission:

• Providing governance and oversight for the organization's operations
• Contributing to the development of the strategic plan and monitor its execution
• Ensuring the financial stability and accountability of the organization
• Advocating for the organization's mission and engaging in community outreach efforts
• Attending and actively participating in mandatory quarterly remote board meetings and relevant committee meetings

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a board role or similar capacity
• Strong commitment to the organization's mission and strategic objectives
• Experience in governance, finance, fundraising, and/or nonprofit management
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think critically and engage in constructive dialogue with other board members
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
• Background in environmental/watershed/ocean stewardship is preferred
• Prior experience with a non-profit organization is highly preferred
• Location within the 48 contiguous United States is highly preferred

Requirements

• Ability to attend periodic meetings conducted during regular business hours in the Central Standard (CST) Time Zone
• Dedication of about eight hours a month
• Attendance at mandatory quarterly remote Board meetings
• Commitment for at least two years (though longer is preferred)
• Quarterly Board meetings are generally held on Sunday afternoons or evenings for approximately two (2) hours
