[Hiring] Bilingual Worker Protection Field Investigator for Systemic Wage Violations @State of Colorado

Role Description

The Direct Investigations Unit of the Division of Labor Standards and Statistics is hiring one Compliance Investigator I position (“CI”) to serve as a worker protection field investigator for systemic wage violations. The Direct Investigations Unit handles Division-initiated investigations of employers for systemic labor law violations, rather than the investigation of individual complaints. The role includes:

• Employing a range of enforcement and educational tools to remedy systemic violations of Colorado labor laws.
• Conducting compliance audits and site visits around the state.
• Attending worker outreach events and building relationships with community-based organizations.
• Conducting complex employer-wide investigations involving large groups of workers.
• Focusing primarily on vulnerable and marginalized workers, especially in the agricultural and construction industries.
• Gathering and analyzing evidence from workers, employers, and other sources to determine labor law violations.
• Drafting case documents and analyzing large volumes of documentation.
• Providing education to workers, employers, and the public.
• Planning and managing follow-up for compliance visits and outreach efforts.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of relevant education or experience in litigation, investigations, community organizing, or training/outreach.
• At least one year of experience in labor or employment law, community outreach, or relevant education.

Requirements

• Must be a resident of Colorado.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to travel for site visits and events 3 to 10 times per year.
• Pass a thorough background check prior to employment.
