[Hiring] Audio Engineer @Nep Uk

YDay - Nep Uk is hiring a remote Audio Engineer. 💸 Salary: 35,000-45,000 per year 📍Location: UK

Role Description

Be the sound behind the moments millions are watching. At NEP UK, our Audio Engineers help bring some of the biggest live sporting, entertainment and broadcast productions to audiences around the world. We’re looking for experienced Audio Engineers at Guarantee level to join our Audio team.

This is an opportunity to take genuine technical ownership of audio delivery on major live productions, working across our outside broadcast fleet, flypacks and remote production environments.

You’ll be trusted to prepare, configure and operate sophisticated audio systems, make critical technical decisions and solve problems when it matters most – live and on air.

You’ll work alongside some of the most experienced engineers in the industry, while continuing to develop your own expertise as broadcast technology and production workflows evolve.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the audio delivery on major productions, from preparation and testing through to the live broadcast.
  • Prepare, configure, test and operate complex professional broadcast audio systems.
  • Set up and manage consoles, stageboxes, routing, monitoring and communications.
  • Work with audio networking technologies and increasingly complex IP-based environments.
  • Interpret client and production requirements and turn them into robust technical solutions.
  • Carry out advanced fault-finding and resolve issues quickly and calmly when working under live-production pressure.
  • Work closely with Vision, VT, Camera, Engineering and Production teams to deliver an integrated technical solution.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, system configurations and production records.
  • Support system upgrades, technical improvements and the introduction of new technology and workflows.
  • Provide technical support, guidance and mentoring to Audio Assistants and less experienced Audio Engineers.

The technology

The world of broadcast audio is constantly moving forward, and you’ll have the opportunity to work with sophisticated systems across both established and emerging workflows.

Your experience may include:

  • Professional broadcast audio consoles and mixing systems.
  • Complex audio routing and signal flow.
  • Stageboxes and production infrastructure.
  • Communications, intercom and monitoring systems.
  • Dante, AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110-30.
  • IP-based and hybrid broadcast environments.
  • Remote production workflows.
  • Outside broadcast trucks and flypacks.
  • Integrated audio systems supporting large-scale live productions.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience working as an Audio Engineer within outside broadcast, live production or a comparable broadcast environment.
  • Strong knowledge of professional broadcast audio workflows, signal flow and routing.
  • Experience configuring and operating complex audio systems and broadcast consoles.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues under time pressure.
  • Knowledge of modern audio networking technologies such as Dante, AES67 or ST 2110-30.
  • The ability to remain calm, focused and decisive in a live environment.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear and confident communication with clients, production teams and fellow engineers.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge and support developing engineers.
  • A genuine interest in new technology and a desire to keep developing your technical expertise.

The person behind the engineer

  • Takes ownership and accountability for the quality of their work.
  • Can make sound technical decisions independently while knowing when to ask for support.
  • Brings calm and confidence when a production is under pressure.
  • Builds trusted relationships with clients, production teams and colleagues.
  • Takes pride in preparation and understands that great live engineering starts well before the cameras go live.
  • Enjoys working as part of a highly skilled team and sharing experience with others.
  • Is curious about emerging technology and always looking for ways to improve.
  • Wants to keep learning, whether that means deepening an existing specialism or expanding into new technologies and workflows.

Part of the NEP Team

Our culture is built around four values: Reliable, Ethical, Innovative and One Team.

For our engineers, that means being someone others can depend on, communicating openly, doing the right thing, looking for better ways to work and supporting the people around you.

You’ll be expected to plan ahead, take initiative, solve problems constructively and consistently deliver the high standards our clients and production teams rely on.

What’s in it for you?

  • Work on productions people are watching.
  • Work with technology at the leading edge.
  • Keep developing your career.
  • Be part of a team that shares its expertise.

What does success look like?

Success in this role means becoming someone that production teams and clients have complete confidence in.

You’ll be able to independently prepare and deliver complex audio systems, anticipate potential problems, make confident decisions under pressure and provide calm technical leadership throughout a live broadcast.

Over time, you’ll become not only a trusted technical specialist, but someone who helps raise the capability of the wider engineering team and contributes to the development of the technology and workflows we’ll use tomorrow.

The practical details

  • Role: Audio Engineer – Guarantee Level
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Deployed across client projects, with attendance at Gemini House, Bracknell required for job preparation and base operations when needed.
  • This is primarily a deployed role, so flexibility to travel and work varied schedules is essential to support live productions.

Ready to take your expertise to the next level? Join NEP UK and help deliver the sound behind the moments that audiences around the world are watching.
