Role Description

Walden University seeks a dynamic, innovative faculty member for this contributing (part-time) position in the Ph.D. in Social Work and the DSW programs. Key responsibilities of this position include teaching courses and mentoring student research.

Educate Walden University students using online technology and resources.
Impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique through thoughtful communications.
Interact with students within the Learning Management System (LMS).
Maintain classroom presence a minimum of 4 days per week.
Respond to student questions within 48 hours.
Participate in Residencies held domestically or internationally.
Provide timely feedback, approval, assessment, and evaluation of student work.
Maintain appropriate credentials and licenses for teaching.
Travel to university events and residencies as required.

Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. or DSW from an accredited university in social work.
MSW from a Council for Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.
Experience sitting on/chairing dissertation committees.
Significant record of academic (i.e., publications, presentations) and/or professional contributions to the field of study.
A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program and one year of online teaching experience is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years post-MSW social work practice experience.
Commitment to supporting student success in a diverse population of adult learners.
Commitment to the social change mission of Walden University.
Experience with Learning Management Systems and leveraging technology in learning (required).
Proficiency with SPSS for quantitative faculty and/or NVivo for qualitative faculty, preferred.
Expected to perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.

Requirements

Personal computer with virus protection and Internet access.
Walden e-mail account and access to the learning platform.
Access to password-protected faculty sections of the website, university and college listservs, and other faculty communications tools.

Benefits

Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course.
Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course.
Other opportunities for contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
