Role Description

The Principal AI Solutions Engineer is a strategic and technical role responsible for driving the successful, ethical, and scalable adoption of AI across our network of 750+ outpatient clinics and growing. This individual serves as the chief translator between executive business needs and technical AI capabilities, ensuring all AI engagements align with the overall enterprise ecosystem and deliver measurable Return on Investment (ROI) and improved patient outcomes. This role includes hands-on solution execution: creating AI agents, agentic workflows, rapid prototyping, etc., while continuing to understand and incorporate new capabilities in the AI landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Partnership & Value Realization
    • Use Case Prioritization: Act as a strategic consultant to business function leaders (e.g., COO, CFO, Chief People Officer, Chief Medical Officer, etc.) to identify, vet, and prioritize high-value AI use cases.
    • ROI & Business Case: Partner in the development of comprehensive business cases for new AI investments, translating technical performance metrics into financial and operational KPIs (e.g., claims denial reduction, clinician time-in-EMR).
    • Executive Communication: Present complex AI strategies, risks, and performance metrics to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in a clear, compelling, and non-technical manner.
    • Organizational Enablement: Lead internal AI literacy efforts, guiding different functions (from clinical informatics to finance) on how to strategically leverage and measure the impact of new AI technologies.
  • Technical Exploration & Experimentation
    • Rapid Prototyping: Lead quick, focused Proofs of Concept (POCs) on emerging technologies (e.g., new models, open-source AI frameworks) to determine their viability and fit within the regulated healthcare environment.
    • Vendor Vetting: Conduct deep technical due diligence and performance testing on third-party AI vendors, evaluating their architecture, adherence to SLAs, and security posture (e.g., HITRUST controls).
    • Maturity and Scaling: Define the path for moving successful AI prototypes from the pilot environment to enterprise-wide production deployment, focusing on monitoring (model drift), latency, and cost optimization.
  • Strategy, Governance, & Integration
    • Enterprise AI Roadmap: Define the technical and architectural roadmap for AI integration, focusing on data pipeline requirements, MLOps tooling, and shared services (e.g., central API gateways for AI agents).
    • AI Governance: Collaborate with the Security and Compliance teams to define and enforce Responsible AI (RAI) policies, ensuring all solutions adhere to HIPAA, are free from bias, and maintain PHI security standards.
    • Technical Architecture: Serve as the technical expert to ensure AI solutions integrate seamlessly with our core systems, including the EMR, Telehealth platforms, and Patient Engagement portals, adhering to healthcare interoperability standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in technology, solutions engineering, commercial software development.
  • Hands-on experience with core AI technologies (LLMs, Agents, NLP, predictive analytics) and proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS). Experience with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) and MLOps principles is essential.
  • Deep working knowledge of the healthcare provider landscape, including core systems (EMR), Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Exceptional ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, strategic narratives for both engineers and C-suite executives.
  • A curious, experimental mindset with a proven history of independent tinkering, developing prototypes, and challenging the status quo for technological improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years directly focused on deploying and integrating AI/ML models in an enterprise high growth setting.

Benefits

  • Eligibility for full benefits package beginning within your first month of employment.
  • Generous PTO (Paid Time Off) plans and paid holidays.
