Role Description

As a Support Data Scientist at EY, you will play a pivotal role in creating data-driven, market-leading insights on topics of critical importance to our clients. You will work closely with the Insights leadership in the scoping, planning, and execution of projects. This role involves both basic and applied research components, from original insight creation to the development of new products and services.

• Utilize data science and computer science techniques to assist in building new data-backed products that deliver proprietary insights to the business on topics most important to our clients.
• Support the creation and publication of external insights on ey.com or select third-party channels, including data visualization, interpretation of analyses, and technical guidance.
• Help develop and deliver self-serve dashboards of top-line data insights for teams across EY to contextualize for clients and/or share externally.
• Adapt our analyses and/or provide technical guidance for use by specific EY teams, and in select cases, work with EY colleagues to help embed or hand-over analyses or methodologies we have developed.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and colleagues as part of the Insights team, engaging in the areas we are studying, including Sector/Service line/Solution/Digital technology leaders, marketing partners, etc., to iterate assumptions, analyses, and approaches to ensure correctness and market impact.
• Rapidly test areas of interest by helping select research projects by utilizing lightweight analyses to stand up “what if” demonstrations of what could be.
• Co-develop research plans by working closely with team members, Clients and Industries colleagues, and business stakeholders, providing creative input and technical guidance to help shape the data requirements and output of potential products.
• Identify and collect all possible data sources (internal, external, purchasable) and program or leverage existing tools to acquire the data. Develop required tests to ensure quality.
• Perform preliminary, sense, and quality check analyses in business intelligence platforms like Power BI, Tableau, etc., and thereafter, statistical analyses in Python, R, etc. Most research projects will utilize machine learning.

Qualifications

• University Bachelor’s degree in STEM subjects; MBA is preferred.
• Data Science or related certifications will be an added advantage.
• 5 - 7 years of experience in Data Science.
• Ability to work in a global, multicultural, and virtual environment.
• May require occasional travel, both domestic and international.

Requirements

• Expert in machine learning with familiarity with the Azure Machine Learning environment.
• Exposure to tools for Data Science applications like R/Python/Alteryx or others to implement Machine Learning Algorithms.
• Deep understanding of statistical theories and applications, with demonstrated ability to execute advanced statistical methodologies (e.g., supervised vs. unsupervised learning).
• Ability to build predictive models and NLP models for text analytics.
• Proficiency in data exploration exercises and developing data-driven story dashboards on modern BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Excellent skills in logical thinking and problem-solving.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills in English.
• Understanding of internal stakeholders' and external clients’ needs and concerns, responding with a sense of urgency.
• Willingness to build a network of internal contacts to support domain and broader business objectives.
• Advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
