Role Description

We are seeking an AI Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable AI-powered services in a cloud-native environment. This role sits at the intersection of backend engineering, distributed systems, and applied AI infrastructure.

You will be responsible for building production-grade APIs and event-driven services that power AI agents, retrieval systems, and intelligent workflows. The ideal candidate combines strong backend engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in serverless and event-based architectures on AWS.

• AI Platform & Service Development
  • Design and implement backend services using Python and FastAPI
  • Develop APIs that orchestrate AI agents and LLM-powered workflows
  • Integrate with Amazon Bedrock and other AI services for inference and retrieval
  • Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems leveraging vector databases
• Cloud-Native Architecture (AWS)
  • Architect and deploy services using:
    • API Gateway
    • AWS Lambda
    • ECS
    • EventBridge
    • SQS
    • Step Functions
    • S3
    • RDS
    • DynamoDB
    • Bedrock
  • Design event-driven, serverless-first systems
  • Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and observability
• Data & Storage Systems
  • Model and manage data across:
    • Relational databases (SQL, RDS)
    • NoSQL systems (DynamoDB)
    • Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, OpenSearch, pgvector, etc.)
  • Optimize data access patterns for low-latency AI applications
  • Implement secure and scalable data pipelines
• Infrastructure as Code
  • Provision and manage infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation
  • Maintain reproducible, version-controlled infrastructure
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
• AI Agents & Workflow Orchestration
  • Design and implement AI agent architectures
  • Build multi-step workflows using Step Functions or equivalent orchestration tools
  • Integrate tool use, memory systems, and external APIs into agent pipelines

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend or platform engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Production experience with FastAPI or similar API frameworks
• Deep experience with AWS serverless and event-driven architectures
• Experience building distributed systems with asynchronous messaging (SQS, EventBridge)
• Working knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience designing or implementing vector search / RAG systems
• Strong understanding of infrastructure as code, specifically CloudFormation
• Familiarity with AI/LLM integration patterns and agent-based systems
