[Hiring] AI Engineer @Simetrik

Role Description

As an AI Engineer, you will join the AI Agent team to design, build, and deploy production-ready AI agents that deliver tangible value for both our clients and our internal operations. This role sits at the intersection of product and client delivery. You will contribute to the Agent Factory by developing tailored agents for client use cases, while also building scalable solutions that power Simetrik’s internal functions.

We are looking for builders who thrive in ambiguity, can move fast from concept to production, and are motivated by creating the generation of scalable AI agents at Simetrik. Given the nature of the role, you will collaborate directly with clients to deeply understand their business needs, translate them into technical solutions, and make critical decisions around system design, security, and code quality. This is not a junior position. We expect someone with strong engineering judgment, product thinking, and the ability to operate autonomously while maintaining high standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents for both customer-specific use cases and scalable internal products.
• Partner directly with clients to understand business needs and translate them into AI-driven solutions.
• Own the end-to-end development lifecycle, from data and modeling to backend integration and cloud deployment.
• Adapt and optimize LLMs using prompting, RAG, fine-tuning, and other techniques.
• Ensure production readiness through testing, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Build scalable APIs and services to bring AI capabilities into real-world applications.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to identify high-impact opportunities and iterate quickly.
• Contribute reusable components and make sound decisions on system design, security, and code quality.
• Document system architectures, data flows, and AI workflows for reproducibility and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus but not required.
• 3+ years of experience across software engineering, data science, or machine learning roles.
• Strong preference for candidates with a full-stack engineering background, capable of understanding and contributing across backend systems, APIs, and product-facing layers.
• Hybrid profiles (engineering + data/AI) are strongly valued.
• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish; Portuguese is a plus.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with API development and model serving (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
• Hands-on experience with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, Cohere).
• Practical experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Autogen, or similar).
• Experience designing and building LLM agents, applying techniques such as RAG, tool use, and behavioral customization.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and fine-tuning workflows.
• Knowledge of experiment tracking and evaluation frameworks (MLflow, Weights & Biases, or similar).
• Experience with containerized applications (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases.
• Comfortable collaborating in cross-functional, remote teams.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with vector databases and retrieval systems (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, Milvus).
• Proficiency in cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with data versioning and dataset management (DVC, Delta Lake).
• Knowledge of caching strategies, model routing, and latency optimization for AI systems.
• Experience designing evaluation pipelines aligned with product and user metrics.
• Understanding of responsible AI principles: fairness, privacy, security, and explainability.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Startup experience is a plus.
