[Hiring] Analytics Intern (Data scientist) @MDCalc

About us:

MDCalc is a leading healthcare technology company dedicated to providing healthcare professionals with evidence-based clinical decision support tools.

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Data Scientist Intern to work alongside our Product and Engineering team on a 12 week internship.  

This role will report to the Head of Product and work closely with the rest of MDCalc's teams to gather insights about users from a variety of research methods.

This is a critical role to help further MDCalc's value, as well as contribute to MDCalc's expanded success in continuing to support our millions of clinical users worldwide in taking care of hundreds of millions of patients.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct exploratory data analysis and visualization to uncover trends, correlations, and anomalies in the data.
• Refine our statistical approach to targeting and engagement attribution
• Develop and refine product and leadership dashboards to improve visibility into performance, trends, and business goals.
• Suggest improvements in the tools and techniques to help scale the team (e.g. Google Analytics, Segment Tracking, etc.)
• Perform large-scale data analysis to extract useful business insights
• Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations, and influence the direction of the business by communicating results to cross-functional groups
• Assist in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets from various sources to extract actionable insights and patterns.

Requirements:

• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience in healthcare industry
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a solid foundation in statistics, probability, and linear algebra.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science, such as Python, R, or SQL.
• Experience with Google Analytics
• Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis libraries/frameworks (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Metabase, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau) is a plus.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
• Curiosity, creativity, and a passion for solving real-world problems using data-driven approaches.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
