[Hiring] DevSecOps Engineer @Entara

We invite you to embark on your journey with Entara as a key resource in the delivery and maturation of our automation offerings within the DevSecOps Team in our Business Intelligence Automation practice! Our emphasis on automation is at the heart of Entara’s operations, and it is the tool that will drive our client and internal employee satisfaction. We are seeking an energetic engineer to join our quest to enhance, optimize, and maintain our automations—ensuring it is a game-changing investment both internally and externally.  

Wielding the power of best practices, we require an experienced engineer who has a knack for good, clean code and a desire to contribute to something great. Our ideal candidate is ready to improve our existing framework while fixing bugs and developing enhancements, keeping an eye out for scalability and additional platform API integrations, and always keeping the end-user experience paramount.

After diving into the weeds of day-to-day issues and priorities, our DevSecOps Engineer will maintain a pulse on the SDLC, helping us to think one step ahead and ensuring our roadmap is aligned with the future. Our Engineer will work closely alongside our dedicated DevSecOps Team and will interface with departmental leadership on future-minded enhancement proposals. Our DevSecOps Engineer employs deep knowledge of programming, scripting, and APIs to administer, maintain, and advance Entara’s internal and external automation tasks and development. Serving as a key resource to the DevSecOps team (a subset within our Business Intelligence Automation practice), our DevSecOps Engineer primarily acts as a development lead on new projects, maintenance, integrations, and issues requiring immediate resolution. Daily development tasks span completing enhancements, resolving known defects, building and maintaining integrations, working on version upgrades, and performing monthly/quarterly maintenance tasks. Our DevSecOps Engineer reports directly to the DevSecOps & Platform Manager.  

Perform Key Responsibilities

• Standup Participation: Actively engage in daily standup meetings to receive assignments, align on goals, and offer progress reports on ongoing development tasks.
• Issue Resolution: Tackle challenges encountered by engineers as an escalation resource, through diagnosing problems (defects), crafting elegant and suitable solutions, and executing repairs in line with established change management procedures.
• Quality Assurance: Diligently route freshly coded features for peer testing, reciprocate QA efforts for colleagues' work when required, and cultivate a culture of shared responsibility in product excellence.
• Development: Develop and upkeep integrations between third-party APIs and the Entara platform, enhancing our business automation capabilities.
• Automation Audits: Conduct regular checks and enhancements of existing automations to assure accuracy, compliance with application standards, and fulfillment of functional specifications.
• Delivery Management: Uphold commitment to development timelines, identify and communicate impediments early, and solve issues judiciously to safeguard project timelines.
• Manage Deliverables: Prepare and complete deliverables for clients to improve clients’ automation posture.
• Process Adaptation: Leverage a nuanced comprehension of Entara's fundamental processes to tailor automations, bolstering the proficiency of the Managed Services and Professional Services teams in delivering top-tier service.

Enhance Incident Response Playbooks and Security Automation

• Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with Entara’s Cybersecurity Services Team to automate incident response actions and playbook procedures within our SOAR solution, or externally. Continuously seek and identify opportunities for enhancing automation in response to reactive issues and service requests.
• Stay Informed: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current security threats and trends to ensure responses, documentation, and automation processes are continuously improved.
• Optimize Orchestration: Develop and enhance orchestration strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Entara’s Reactive team, thereby reducing response times and increasing overall capabilities.

Align Documentation

• Maintenance Standards: Stay in concert with the Business Intelligence and Automation leadership and architects to revise and refine documentation governing platform upkeep procedures.
• QA Practices: Apply established testing methodologies and plans to ensure rigorous QA. Methodically track progress in ServiceNow, including logging time and work notes tied to relevant feature records.

Deliver Effective Communication

• Change Communication: Adhere to pre-established communication protocols guaranteeing that platform stakeholders and users are pre-emptively informed about significant updates.
• Proactive Updates: Offer timely, empathetic communications regarding urgent issue resolution, upholding an understanding approach towards feedback and inquiries.
• Change Summaries: Clearly articulate the rationale and scope of modifications to stakeholders, promoting transparency and uniformity across the organization.

Ideate Automation Enhancement

• Development Insight: Offer insights on prospective development avenues that may sway the platform's strategic direction.
• Collaborative Requirement Gathering: Work alongside stakeholders across the company to consolidate business needs, pinpoint, and champion incremental platform improvements geared towards scaling Entara and its clients effectively.

• You’re a knowledge seeker. Regardless of method, you have obtained and exposed yourself to knowledge centers that have qualified you to understand development with an eye for operational efficiency and integration architecture. You ideally have an engineering, computer science, information technology, or system development degree or you’re actively working toward completion of one.

• You have at least two (2) years of experience developing software with Python, JavaScript, and showcase the following competencies:
  • Completed in-depth, production-ready personal projects or previous professional work in Python
  • 1+ year working within JavaScript Frameworks
  • Experience
  • Understanding the ROI of automation
  • Developed expertise working with RESTful APIs
  • Experience developing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• You have at least two (2) years of experience developing software for business use utilizing the following coding languages:
  • HTML & CSS
  • JavaScript (required)
  • Python (required)
  • PowerShell (bonus)
  • Golang (bonus)

• You have experience working with various business IT Infrastructure including OS Administration of Windows, Mac, and Linux. You have familiarity with Cloud Infrastructure such as Azure or AWS. You understand networking concepts and are familiar with firewalls, routers, and switches.

• You are available for an 8-hour shift (with standard breaks), generally performed between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm CT Monday-Friday. Being a true 24x7 operation, we all take the lead in keeping our operations afloat. As a DevSecOps Engineer, you will be an instrumental asset in our release cycle which may require you to (on occasion) be available after hours.You don’t shrink away from unconventional hours when the task requires it—you pride yourself on being a team player.

• You’re ready to be an effective remote worker and have a dedicated, private space for a home office with a private internet connection with at least 50MBPS bandwidth. Public Wi-Fi and shared common spaces do not meet these standards.
