Whoever you are, whatever you teach, Twinkl is here for you!

The Role:

We are looking for an illustrator of an Aboriginal Australian background who is confident in their ability to create traditional and contemporary styles of Aboriginal art, to join our Australia team. You will be responsible for creating the images used on Twinkl’s resources and will need to be able to adapt to fit with the current artwork style of the company’s brand. We are looking for someone who is creative and passionate about illustration and who can work quickly and independently to create fun and child-friendly images.

Joining us, you’ll be working with a capable team of writers, editors and designers to create a huge variety of learning resources that are in use by educators in Australia. Whether it be an illustration to increase engagement levels of students or to demonstrate a principle crucial to the student’s understanding, you’ll be contributing to Twinkl’s mission to ‘Help those who teach,’ and helping give learners worldwide a step up in life.

How you’ll spend your week:

  • Creating illustrations for Aboriginal Australian resources produced by the Australia team.
  • Creating general illustrations for educational resources.
  • Skillshare workshops and other related training activities.
  • Weekly team and line manager meetings

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to illustrate beautifully for a fast-paced ever-changing professional environment.
  • How to make your contribution to a team count.
  • You won’t just learn to be efficient, but also to be effective.
  • A variety of Twinkl brand styles to service all ages of learners.
  • Advanced and highly valued Photoshop skills.

You’ll work with:

  • An in house illustration team with over 100 illustrators.
  • The Australia product team of writers, editors, copywriters, marketing assistants and designers.
  • The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Content Advisor

Please apply using your CV and a covering letter that contains a link to your online portfolio.

In portfolios, we are looking for candidates with a variety of illustration styles that really showcase basic drawing skills. In particular, we want to see strong examples of line drawing and a good understanding of how to draw people and proportion/anatomy. We also need evidence of flexibility and adaptability to demonstrate that candidates would be capable of adopting the Twinkl brand styles which can be seen on the website.

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Have the ability to draw to a predefined style.
  • Be creative and imaginative.
  • Be proficient in the use of Adobe Photoshop.
  • Have the ability to research and pull out relevant information & ideas.
  • Have strong draughtsmanship skills.
  • Be confident in creating both traditional and contemporary Aboriginal art.

We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:

  • Relevant experience in illustration/other art and design-based subjects (a degree is nice to have but not necessary)
  • Experience in educational illustration.
  • Experience in illustrating for children.

Essential for remote working-access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6MB down and 1MB upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.
