Who we are

We're Sorry Robots, a full-stack product design firm. We make and sell physical products under the GIR and Voltaire brands, and we’re incubating some software brands as well. There's a lot going on here—we're not reinventing the wheel, but everything else is fair game.

GIR, our line of award-winning kitchen tools, is designed for the modern kitchen: bright, beautiful, and functional. Voltaire’s first product is a portable, high-performance coffee grinder that aims to reinvent the way users make and purchase coffee. We’ve developed patent-pending technology to monitor bean freshness, track usage patterns and user preferences, and automatically reorder beans when they run low or get stale. We’re also working on apps to commercialize our product capabilities, along with some of the systems and tools we’ve built for our own use. Those brands are in stealth mode, but if you join our team you'll get to hear about them before the rest of the world does ;)

How we work

When it comes to product design, we think that "good enough" is pretty crappy. That's why the hard-working engineers at GIR are finding a way to Get It Right. We started with the perfect spatula. And now, from cooking tools to coffee gear, if there's room for improvement our job is to find it, perfect it, and make everything look good at the same time.

To do our good work, we've built a bangarang team of creatives, engineers, operators, and business-folk. In building a world-class team, our goal is to in-source as many components of the business as possible—design, marketing, sales & distribution, tech, operations—perfect them, and monetize them across our own brands and partner brands. We're a largely remote workforce, with pockets in the California Bay Area, Southern California, and New York City. If you thrive on flexibility, are a hardcore completionist, and aren't intimidated by a team that goes after winning the sprint AND the marathon, you'll be right at home here.
