Role Description

As a Purchasing Manager for (company), you will work with our Supply Chain management team to develop and execute actionable purchasing strategies. This includes:

• Utilizing our inventory management system to manage inventory levels
• Leading the buying team
• Developing and maintaining strategic supplier relationships
• Reaching departmental goals

The Purchasing Manager position reports to the Director of Purchasing and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or pursuit of) in business-related field, preferably concentrating in Supply Chain or Purchasing
• Proficient with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Word, including ability to do VLOOKUPs in Excel
• 5+ years of related experience in a buying/purchasing role, with previous management experience
• Experience and understanding of inventory management practices, including ABC classification
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Professional attitude and representation
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Results-oriented
• Strong teamwork skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completion while meeting deadlines
• Ability to establish relationships with vendors
• Blueprint reading and understanding
• Demonstrated understanding of inventory turns, including how they are calculated, and the importance of increased inventory turns

Requirements

• Lead Purchasing department personnel, overseeing the purchasing process
• Analyze existing purchasing processes for performance; identify and implement process efficiencies
• In coordination with Supply Chain management, develop and implement procurement strategies that allow for successful negotiations of favorable pricing, terms, and agreements
• Monitor and control inventory levels and inventory turns to meet turn goals; utilization of inventory management metrics and ABC Classification
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with supply base
• Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with internal customers
• Establish measurable regional department goals, with supporting metrics
• Analysis and reporting of cost trends and availability of materials with a full understanding of supply/demand challenges and the ability to leverage/navigate
• Responsible for adequate inventory of all parts for customer satisfaction
• Review and maintain ISO operational procedures for the purchasing area
• Responsible for hiring new employees and ensuring training for success
• Evaluation of quality, pricing, and service of supply base
• Responsible for annual cost-savings goals
• Other duties as assigned
