[Hiring] Visualization Technology & Innovation Technical Lead @AECOM

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Visualization Technology & Innovation Technical Lead to drive the evolution of our AEC visualization capabilities. This role will serve as the primary technical advisor and innovation leader for a multidisciplinary team of visualization artists, 3D generalists, designers, and digital practitioners.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in real-time 3D technologies, interactive applications, cloud-based workflows, and emerging spatial computing platforms with a proven track record of building scalable technical solutions. This individual will be responsible for:

• Evaluating emerging technologies
• Developing proof-of-concepts and minimum viable products (MVPs)
• Guiding technology adoption
• Ensuring our visualization practice remains at the forefront of industry innovation

This role is particularly suited for candidates coming from the gaming, entertainment, simulation, XR, or interactive technology industries who are eager to apply their expertise to the AEC industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field
• Ten years of experience in software engineering, interactive technology, real-time 3D development, gaming, simulation, visualization, or related fields or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Experience developing multi-user and interactive applications
• Experience with one or more game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot or similar real-time platforms
• Experience developing desktop, mobile, web, or XR applications
• Experienced in communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience creating prototypes, MVPs, and proof-of-concept applications

Requirements

• Fifteen years of experience in software engineering, interactive technology, real-time 3D development, gaming, simulation, visualization, or related fields (preferred)
• Demonstrated experience building and leading technical teams (preferred)
• Demonstrated knowledge of software architecture, deployment, and development of lifecycle methodologies (preferred)
• Experience with modern cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud (preferred)
• Experience with AR/XR hardware ecosystems, including Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, Magic Leap, or similar devices (preferred)
• Demonstrated knowledge of networking, streaming technologies, and collaborative multi-user systems (preferred)
• Preferred experience in several of the following: C#, C++, Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, OpenXR, WebXR, Unity, Unreal Engine, PlayCanvas, Babylon.js, Reality Capture Pipelines, AI/ML-assisted visualization workflows
