[Hiring] Tech Lead @Sourcegraph

Role Description

We are hiring a technical leader for the Code Plane team, which owns Sourcegraph products that help developers and their agents take action on code across large codebases. This role involves:

• Setting technical and product direction.
• Driving the roadmap from issue to shipped product.
• Keeping the team unblocked and moving.
• Working across various surfaces including Batch Changes, Agentic Batch Changes, Code Monitors, Code Insights, and src CLI.

Within the first month, you will:

• Build relationships across your team and familiarize yourself with its surface area.
• Meet cross-functional partners and translate customer feedback into actionable insights.
• Join the team's on-call support rotation.

Within three months, you will:

• Own a meaningful slice of Agentic Batch Changes end-to-end.
• Be the technical lead for the team's roadmap.
• Strengthen team practices for reliability.
• Mentor teammates and build high-trust relationships.

Within six months, you will:

• Be recognized as the technical visionary for Code Plane.
• Understand customer and agent ecosystem needs.
• Set the direction of the team's roadmap with evidence-backed conviction.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Fluency across our stack: Go, TypeScript, SvelteKit, React, GraphQL APIs, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong technical background with the ability to provide guidance on architecture and code quality.
• Experience building end-user product features, ideally in developer tools or agent/AI products.
• Experience partnering closely with Product and Design to take features from idea to shipped.
• Hands-on experience using coding agents and understanding their workflows.
• Async-first communication skills and experience in a globally distributed remote team.

Requirements

• Experience orchestrating autonomous work at scale.
• Experience owning a service with paying customers and improving it without a rewrite.
• Track record of raising the bar for other engineers.
• Comfort with making architectural decisions without established patterns.
• Ability to listen to customers and translate needs into technical bets.
• Experience as a Team or Tech Lead on a software engineering team.
