[Hiring] Staff Frontend Engineer - Observability Drilldown @Grafana Labs

Role Description

The Drilldown team builds intuitive, guided workflows that make complex telemetry easy to explore and understand. We let users navigate seamlessly through their signals, facilitating their ability to gain insights and identify issues. Our mission is to design and maintain intuitive, opinionated, queryless user experiences that empower users to quickly answer telemetry questions through simple point-and-click interactions.

• Guided Exploration: We build simple, intuitive UIs that help users troubleshoot and answer questions without writing queries.
• Cross-Data Insights: We seek opportunities to integrate the Drilldown plugins with other parts of the Grafana ecosystem, in order to provide a seamless experience to users.
• Community Driven: We listen to users and contributors, and turn feedback into real improvements.
• Operational Excellence: We write robust, extensible code and own qualification and delivery of our plugin. We monitor usage and performance and always look for ways to improve our functionality and increase the efficiency of our workflows.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Improve and enhance queryless exploration workflows.
• Collaborate with your team and with others at Grafana to deliver new features, analyze outcomes, and make improvements.
• Lead projects from concept to implementation, incorporating ongoing customer support.
• Take an active role in influencing our roadmap and your own career objectives.
• Participate in shared on-call rotations and take responsibility for the services you oversee.
• Support and mentor team members, engage in design conversations, and work closely with colleagues.
• Expand your skill set by deepening your knowledge of our cloud products, understanding our customers, and learning about our codebase.

We invest heavily in developer productivity. You can use modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow (your choice of tools, within security guidelines), backed by a company-funded usage budget so you can iterate quickly without unnecessary friction.

We encourage pragmatic AI-assisted development: faster prototyping, test generation, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-ups—always paired with strong code review and quality standards.

You’ll also have access to frontier models (e.g., GPT-Codex 5/3, Claude Opus 4.7, Gemini 3 Pro).

Qualifications

• Deep experience building integrated, frontend applications with React and TypeScript, following modern patterns and best practices.

• Strong sense of product design and usability, with the ability to contribute creatively to user workflows and visual polish.
• Expertise in best-in-class coding practices, including automation-based testing strategies, maintainable architectures, accessibility, and performance optimization.
• Excellent communication skills in a remote-first, collaborative environment, with a track record of working effectively across teams.
• Bonus: Experience with Open Telemetry.

Requirements

• In Spain, the compensation range for this role is EUR 94,025 - EUR 112,830. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process.
• All of our roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), giving every team member ownership in Grafana Labs' success.
