[Hiring] Software Engineering Manager @Turnitin, LLC

Role Description

We are looking for a self-sufficient, highly motivated Software Engineering Manager to lead and maintain products within the Turnitin Integrity portfolio. This is a leadership role that requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strong people management abilities.

As an Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Product Managers, Customer Success teams, and other Engineering teams across the globe, ensuring seamless collaboration. You must be skilled at prioritization, problem-solving, and context switching, as your time will be distributed across multiple projects.

This is a people-first leadership role, where you will manage individual contributors (ICs), provide feedback, mentor, coach, and support career development. The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient but also an empathetic, influential leader who fosters a positive and high-performing engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline OR equivalent work experience.
• Experience collaborating across time zones and geographies, with a flexible and adaptable working style.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills with a solid understanding of modern software development practices.
• Experience using JavaScript frameworks and Java within an AWS serverless environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working with globally distributed engineering and product teams.
• Proven project management experience, with the ability to effectively prioritize and deliver on multiple initiatives.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience in engineering leadership roles across multiple teams, including hiring, mentoring, and team development.
• A strong track record of coaching and mentoring both individual contributors and peers.
• Ability to influence and motivate teams to achieve their best performance.
• Hands-on experience with scalable front-end and back-end applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
• Experience in a similar role in a high-tech environment.
