[Hiring] Software Engineer, DevInfra @Mixpanel

Role Description

We are looking for an engineer with a strong track record of solving tooling pain points, automating away toil, and helping teams deliver software faster, more safely, and more reliably. Someone who is energized by supporting their fellow engineers. An engineer who has good taste and leverages AI to great effect without generating slop. Frequent forays into uncharted territory requires our team to be highly adaptable and always ready to learn. We serve as trailblazers for the rest of Mixpanel engineering.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a wide variety of teams to optimize their software development lifecycle for speed, safety, and reliability.
• Support teams writing front-end UI code and maintaining highly stateful storage systems.
• Deploy AI tools like Claude Code to the entire engineering team.
• Build agents into our platform to augment on-call response and automatically triage bugs.
• Support systems that ingest more than 1 Trillion user-generated events every month while balancing low end-to-end query latency.
• Administer Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine.
• Responsible for Terraform, cost management, networking, and security best practices.
• Service owner for Kubernetes, setting standards for deployment, observability, and developer experience.
• Maintain observability pipelines with over 30 million Prometheus metrics time series.
• Maintain GitHub Actions based CI/CD pipelines for a robust delivery process.
• Maintain the devbox system for provisioning cloud development environments.
• Procure best-in-breed SaaS tooling for the engineering team.
• Run the new engineer onboarding process.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with at least one of: Go, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Production experience working with Kubernetes.
• Production experience managing infrastructure in a major cloud provider such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Azure (preferably Google Cloud Platform).
• Knowledgeable about coding agents like Claude Code.

Bonus Points

• Experience with observability solutions like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Distributed Tracing.
• Experience with service mesh.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• Proficient with GitHub Actions and the GitHub ecosystem.
• Experience building deployment pipelines (GitOps preferred).
• Bazel expertise.
• Experience with Terraform.
• Experience with cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems and security best practices.
• Experience implementing Internal Developer Platforms like Backstage.
• Working knowledge of site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.
• Passion for open source.

Compensation

The amount listed below is the total target cash compensation (TTCC) and includes base compensation and variable compensation in the form of either a company bonus or commissions. Variable compensation type is determined by your role and level. In addition to the cash compensation provided, this position is also eligible for equity consideration and other benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage.

Mixpanel Compensation Range: $157,500 - $213,000 USD
