Role Description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build and operate platforms that integrate specialized partner technologies and services with Azure. In this role, you will:

• Work closely with engineers, product managers, and partner teams to understand customer requirements.
• Design and implement features to deliver reliable, scalable cloud services.
• Leverage modern engineering practices and AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Learn to use appropriate artificial intelligence (AI) tools and practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a disciplined manner.
• Begin to take responsibility for the content of their AI-generated changes to artifacts, reviewing all changes and requesting help from more experienced members of the team as needed.
• Learn to review code and help to review code of others to ensure it meets team standards.
• Participate in code review processes for self-development, gather feedback, and learn about coding standards and the team's features.
• Apply coding patterns and best practices.
• Learn how and begin to use automated source code analysis tools that are incorporated into the build/development process with minimal supervision.
• Develop and apply knowledge of debugging tools, tests, logs, telemetry, and other methods to begin supporting efforts to proactively flag issues before they occur for product features in production.
• Learn to conduct incident retrospectives to identify root causes of problems, and begin to implement repair actions with direct supervision.
• Grow understanding of and begin to apply least-access principles and use logging, telemetry, and other appropriate mechanisms with direct supervision to investigate issues while retaining privacy and security.
• Learn to develop and contribute to automation within production and deployment of a product feature.
• Run code in simulated, or other non-production environments to confirm functionality and error-free runtime for products with oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
• These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of Kubernetes experience.

Compensation

• The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year.
• There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
