Role Description

At Bitso, the Senior Java Software Engineer at Mercury’s Team takes ownership of critical technical decisions, collaborating with the team to implement enhancements and ensure the highest quality in our systems. You will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering cutting-edge technical solutions, guiding and mentoring other engineers, and setting the technical direction and architecture of our applications. Your ongoing responsibilities include maintaining and continuously improving these solutions, ensuring they meet the demands of our growing user base.

This Role will be reporting to the Mercury Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written language communication skills (English language proficiency required)
• Experienced in Java development, with a proven track record of designing, developing, and maintaining robust Java applications
• Deep technical expertise in core Java concepts, including multithreading, concurrency, and optimization of the runtime
• Ability to design scalable and high-performance architectures, with a focus on microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native solutions
• Commitment to continuous improvement, staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in Java and related technologies
• Proactive, "get it done" attitude
• Solid knowledge of Object-Oriented and Functional Programming
• Strong design skills in Java and Spring, with a focus on API design, implementation, and testing
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools like Maven, Gradle, Github actions
• Ability to architect scalable and efficient systems, with a deep understanding of software design principles
• Strong expertise in database management, including PostgreSQL, with hands-on experience in database migrations and schema evolution
• Comprehensive understanding of modern cloud environments and the design of microservices and distributed systems
• Proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker
• Quick to grasp and adapt to new domains, translating complex requirements into effective technical solutions
• Knowledge of PHP and Shell Scripting is a plus
