[Hiring] Software Engineer @Humana

Role Description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and help shape the Future of PBM Technology.

As a Software Engineer 2, you will be building a brand-new Pharmacy Eligibility application. This will involve:

• Modernizing legacy components
• Improving resiliency and performance
• Enhancing backend workflows

The goal is to ensure our members get their claims adjudicated in a timely manner.

The Software Engineer 2 responsibilities include the following:

• Design, build, and deliver high-quality software solutions that enhance healthcare and wellness experiences.
• Develop to optimize scalability, reliability, stability and maintainability.
• Participate across the full development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, optimizing, and deploying production-ready systems.
• Improve engineering quality through robust testing strategies, tooling, automation, and adherence to standards.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams, partnering with product, architecture, and quality assurance to create solutions aligned with business and consumer needs.
• Contribute to an engineering culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and continuous improvement of the consumer journey.
• Serve as a technical authority, driving architectural direction, elevating engineering quality, and delivering scalable applications that support healthcare outcomes.

This role will get some direction from a Senior Software Engineer and is well-suited for individuals seeking opportunities in cutting-edge technology, including the use of AI tools such as Claude code or GitHub Copilot.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience in systems analysis or application programming development
• Experience in PySpark, Databricks and Cloud engineering
• Experience deploying and maintaining Cloud based applications using Azure App Service or Azure Kubernetes Service
• Experience with relational databases at scale
• Knowledge of server-side languages .Net, .Net Core or .Net Framework 7.0 and higher
• Experience with event driven or message driven systems
• Experience with CI/CD software development methodology

Requirements

• Master's Degree (preferred)
• PBM experience (preferred)
• Experience using GCP or Azure (preferred)
• Experience with PostgreSQL or MS-SQL (preferred)
• Experience with Kafka Streaming platform (preferred)
• Experience with a modern, client-side framework such as Angular, React or Vue (preferred)
