Role Description

Who You’ll Work With

• Collaborate with other engineers in Engineering Productivity (EngProd) to design, build, scale, and operate systems for Arista’s development teams.
• Utilize industry-standard systems like Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Grafana, Spinnaker, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Google Cloud, and Varnish.
• Work with internal systems built to automate CI/CD, testing, analysis, and visualization.
• Focus on observability as a cornerstone of a stable system, ensuring monitoring and visualization of tooling and infrastructure.

Arista Software Engineering roles require a strong and broad software engineering background, covering:

• Addition of new features.
• Debugging problems.
• Fine-tuning code for scalability and performance.

You will own projects from definition to deployment and customer interactions, responsible for the quality of everything delivered.

What You'll Do

• Build, integrate, and maintain tools and infrastructure for internal development and testing.
• Improve maintainability of the build system.
• Evaluate new tools.
• Enhance speed of information back to the development team within build systems and processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve systems and network issues.
• Adhere to infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Participate in the design and implementation of new systems and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years commercial experience as a DevOps / SRE Engineer.
• Solid experience with Jenkins and GitHub; understanding of the Atlassian stack (Confluence/Jira/Bamboo/Bitbucket).
• UNIX / Linux systems administration (preferably RedHat/CentOS).
• Scripting with Python or Bash or experience with at least one high-level language (e.g., Go, C++).
• Experience with containerization and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD orchestration and software configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Chef).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Working knowledge/experience with Makefile/make.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or relevant experience.
• Experience with monitoring systems (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, DataDog).
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, XenServer, RHEV, QEMU/KVM).
• Experience with Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, Grafana, Artifactory.
• Exposure to FPGA build projects.
• Exposure or experience with Vivado (Xilinx).
