[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @Dotmatics

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to take primary responsibility for maintaining and supporting our existing Virscidian product portfolio. This is a hands-on software engineering role for someone who is comfortable working with the Microsoft-based technology stack and enjoys solving practical product and customer problems.

• Take primary engineering ownership for the maintenance and support of existing Virscidian products.
• Investigate and resolve software defects, production issues, and customer-reported problems.
• Work with Support, Business Development, Product Management, and engineering teams to understand issues, priorities, and customer impact.
• Implement new features and product enhancements on a case-by-case basis as customer and business needs evolve.
• Maintain and enhance existing C#/.NET applications, including desktop UI (WPF, WinForms), services, Web APIs, and supporting components.
• Work with SQL Server databases, data access layers, stored procedures, and application data models.
• Support Azure hosted resources and existing DevOps, build, deployment, and release processes.
• Troubleshoot issues across software, database, configuration, deployment, and customer environments.
• Help improve the visibility and communication of product issues so priorities are clear to engineering and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers working on future products when knowledge of the existing products, workflows, or domain is needed.
• Contribute to new product development when appropriate, including SaaS platform work, scientific algorithms, performance and scalability improvements, and related engineering efforts.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using C# and the .NET platform.
• Experience maintaining Windows desktop applications and user interfaces.
• Strong experience with relational databases, SQL Server, data access, troubleshooting, and performance considerations.
• Experience developing and supporting REST APIs and application integrations.
• Experience working with applications and services deployed in Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with source control, automated builds, deployment, release management, and troubleshooting deployed applications.
• Experience supporting mature production software, including bug fixes, maintenance releases, and incremental feature development.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to diagnose problems across application, database, infrastructure, and customer environments.
• Comfortable taking responsibility for a product area, managing priorities, and following issues through to completion.
• Ability to work directly with Support, Business Development, Product Management, developers, and other stakeholders to clearly understand and communicate technical issues.
• Comfortable working independently and making practical engineering decisions within an established product architecture.
• Able to work constructively with multiple engineering teams and share knowledge across existing and future product development.
• Ability to contribute beyond maintenance when needed, including SaaS architecture and development, scientific and analytical algorithms, performance optimization, and scalability work.

Requirements

• Experience with scientific or laboratory software.
• Experience with chromatography, mass spectrometry, CDS, LIMS, ELN, or other laboratory informatics systems.
• Experience maintaining software used in regulated or enterprise customer environments.
• Experience with legacy or long-lived Microsoft technology stacks.
• Experience supporting customer-specific configurations and integrations.
• An electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science, or related technical background.
