[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @Microsoft

Role Description

Azure Core Compute is growing incredibly fast! We provide millions of virtual machines for customers to run their services in the cloud. We are a globally available foundational service that hosts services with the scale of Bing/Skype/AzureStore/SQL, hosts millions of multiplayer gaming sessions, and allows solving large computational problems in seconds.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our exciting Azure Compute Team. The team is working on a few different areas that you can have a big impact:

• Projects improving cluster scale and density.
• Building large scale services to provide prioritization of capacity to different segments of customers.
• Using machine learning based models to improve utilization of compute cluster capacity.
• Building new features and microservices to tackle fraud and ensure Azure capacity is prioritized to the right customers.
• Extending the capabilities of the Compute billing pipeline to scale up to the growth that Azure Compute expects over the next 5 to 10 years.
• Implementing algorithmic investments and architectural/protocol changes to improve parallelization.
• Delivering order of magnitude improvements through a result-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, .NET, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, .NET, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, .NET, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of implementing REST APIs and micro-services.
• Experience with source control and build systems.
• Experience handling multiple workstreams in parallel.
• Experience working on large scale distributed systems.
• Experience leveraging AI and building solutions at scale.

Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Benefits

• The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
• In specific work locations, such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
• Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
