[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @Microsoft

Role Description

The Azure Storage team is chartered with building, managing, and running the persistent cloud storage for Microsoft Azure cloud. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is interested in building and optimizing a world-class distributed file system. The role brings exposure to cutting-edge storage, memory, networking, and distributed system technologies, with broad opportunity to influence both the business and the industry.

• Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
• Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
• Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
• Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
• Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
• Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Java OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Java OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Java OR equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering practices, coding and solid foundation in data structures and algorithms, with problem solving, debugging and analytical skills.
• 3+ years of experience in Storage Data Path/File-Systems, or networking software development (Networking Protocols, RDMA, SmartNICs, NIC drivers or Congestion Control), or experience in DPUs or kernel/systems programming.
• Experience in building and operating services at scale.

Requirements

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Benefits

• The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
• In the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
• Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
