[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @TRM Labs

Role Description

TRM Labs provides AI-powered intelligence solutions that help public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. This role sits at the intersection of intelligence analysts, back-end systems, and AI, with a mandate to enhance TRM's intelligence collection using AI.

You'll work directly alongside our intel analysts to:

• Understand how they collect and act on intelligence.
• Build AI-powered products, tooling, and infrastructure to improve efficiency and scalability.

The impact you’ll have here:

• Embed directly with intel analysts to understand their goals, constraints, and workflows.
• Identify high-leverage opportunities to improve intelligence collection.
• Design, build, and own AI-powered internal applications end-to-end.
• Develop custom solutions leveraging state-of-the-art models.
• Own projects from technical design to ongoing support.
• Build reliable, scalable systems for daily analyst use.
• Continuously evaluate impact and iterate based on real outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years full-stack software engineering experience building scalable web applications, services, and APIs.
• Strong product sense with the ability to identify high-impact solutions.
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience building backend systems and designing APIs.
• Demonstrated curiosity and hands-on experience with AI tools and applications.
• A high degree of ownership and initiative.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong back-end/systems engineering skills.
• Experience with various datastores (Postgres/pgvector, Pinecone, Redis).
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and adjusting course as new information emerges.

Benefits

• Estimated base salary range: $200,000 - $220,000.
• Eligibility to participate in TRM’s equity plan.
