[Hiring] Senior Cyber Engineer @HealthEquity

Role Description

HealthEquity is expanding its use of AI. Teammates use generative AI tools, teams are building applications on large language models, and AI agents are beginning to connect to internal systems and data. This role builds HealthEquity's defenses for these use cases on two of our core security platforms, Cloudflare and Palo Alto Networks. It also owns core engineering for both platforms, because AI controls depend on the edge, network, and access layers beneath them. This is a hands-on engineering role. You will design, build, deploy, and operate these controls yourself, and you will be accountable for how they perform in production.

• Build defenses for AI use cases.
• Discover and govern AI use.
• Protect member data in AI interactions.
• Protect HealthEquity-built AI applications.
• Secure agent access to internal systems.
• Centralize access to AI models.
• Handle AI agents on member-facing sites.
• Test what you build.
• Engage early.

Relevant capabilities include Cloudflare AI Gateway, AI Security for Apps, AI Prompt Protection, and MCP server portals, along with Palo Alto Networks Prisma AIRS.

• Own the Cloudflare platform.
• Own the Palo Alto Networks platform.
• Detect, respond, and improve.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in security, network, or infrastructure engineering.
• Deep hands-on engineering experience with either Palo Alto Networks or Cloudflare.
• Hands-on experience securing generative AI.
• Working knowledge of AI-specific threats.
• Strong networking fundamentals.
• Infrastructure-as-code and automation experience.
• Experience integrating identity protocols.
• Experience in a regulated environment.
• Clear written communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall Engineer or Network Security Professional certification preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Prisma AIRS, Cloudflare AI Gateway, or MCP server portals preferred.
• Development experience on Cloudflare Workers preferred.
• Experience building or securing AI agents and MCP servers preferred.
• Cloud network security experience preferred.
• Detection engineering experience preferred.
• Familiarity with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework preferred.
