[Hiring] Senior Backend Engineer II, CI/CD @Fetch

Role Description

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer II focused on CI/CD Engineering to help build and improve the systems, tooling, and developer workflows that power software delivery across Fetch.

• Design and develop tools and automation that make it easier for engineers to build, test, validate, and deploy software with confidence.
• Improve CI performance, strengthen automated testing and verification, enhance observability, and provide developers with faster, more actionable feedback.
• Write production-quality software, develop testing frameworks, and build tools that improve how engineering teams deliver code.
• Independently own complex technical projects, make thoughtful design decisions, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve developer workflows and contribute to technical solutions that can scale across Fetch.

This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US offices or remotely in the United States.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on experience with backend systems, CI/CD tooling, developer infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience designing, building, and maintaining production-quality backend services, APIs, or internal tools.
• Experience building or improving CI/CD pipelines, automated testing infrastructure, and software delivery workflows.
• Hands-on experience with integration testing, end-to-end testing, contract testing, or performance regression testing.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and debugging tools, including diagnosing complex application or pipeline reliability issues.
• Understanding of API contracts, schema validation, distributed systems, and service integration patterns.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and modern DevOps practices, including technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Ability to independently solve complex technical problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and deliver maintainable solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across engineering teams.
• A developer-focused mindset and curiosity about AI-assisted development and emerging engineering tools.

Requirements

• Experience building internal developer platforms, CI/CD verification frameworks, or developer productivity tooling.
• Experience with CI platforms such as GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar systems.
• Experience developing backend services or automation using Go, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, or other cloud infrastructure technologies.
• Experience building automated quality gates, contract testing frameworks, or reproducible test environments.
• Experience with progressive delivery, canary deployments, merge queues, or artifact-based deployment workflows.
• Experience improving build and test performance across large codebases or distributed engineering environments.
• Experience applying AI or autonomous agents to software development, testing, CI/CD, or operational workflows.
• Open-source contributions or involvement in developer tooling, infrastructure, or software engineering communities.
