[Hiring] Senior Backend Engineer @Tilt Finance

Role Description

You'll work close to the product here — no intermediary layer between you and the problem. You're part of the conversation about what to build, you build it, and you watch it reach production. The loop is short and the stakes are real: salary advance, FGTS, and consignado move money in the lives of working people every month, so what you ship has direct consequences for someone. We're looking for a senior backend engineer who takes real ownership of their work, thinks carefully about how systems should behave, and wants to collaborate closely with product, credit, and compliance — not in isolation from them.

This role is remote. The team gathers at our Campinas office twice a year, and as part of Tilt you'll join two global offsites annually — past locations include Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of meaningful work
• Strong experience with Kotlin and/or Java
• Solid working knowledge of AWS, PostgreSQL, and ECS
• Experience building consumer-facing systems at real transaction volumes
• Fluent Portuguese and advanced English (C1)
• Comfortable using AI-powered development tools as a genuine productivity lever
• Fintech, lending, payments, or regulated environment experience is a strong plus

Requirements

• Build and scale the backend systems behind salary advance, FGTS, and consignado lending — with a clear eye on reliability and correctness
• Develop and refine the APIs that power an instant in-app experience, with the precision those transactions demand
• Work on the integrations that make payroll-linked and FGTS lending function — systems where uptime isn't optional
• Collaborate directly with product, credit, compliance, and analytics — your technical perspective shapes the work
• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and team standards around quality, security, and operational excellence
• Share what you know with junior engineers and be the kind of teammate that makes the work better for everyone around you
