Role Description

We are hiring for a major customer in the agricultural industry and looking for a technical lead who will drive the solution’s technical direction from design to rollout, lead backend service implementation, and ensure high standards in quality, reliability, observability, security, and production support. The position requires strong hands-on experience with Python, microservices, event-driven architectures, AWS serverless environments, CI/CD, testing, and operational ownership in live production systems, along with the ability to mentor engineers and work closely with cross-functional teams. Experience with IoT, AI integrations, Golang, Firebase, and mobile or commercial product integrations would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction and execution across the whole solution team and guide delivery from design to rollout.
• Translate architecture into clear implementation decisions and enforce engineering discipline.
• Implementation and evolution of backend services and using AI-augmented development.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to developers.
• Own implementation quality, consistency, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for observability, alerting, logging, tracing, resilience, rollback readiness, and production support.
• Coordinate and improve monitoring, alerting, logging, issues resolution and operational reporting using the current toolchain.
• Work closely with product, QA, DevOps, mobile, and IoT engineers.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, support incident resolution, and contribute to rollout and stabilization activities.
• Help the team understand and manage the end-to-end system flow.
• Act as the technical owner connecting architecture, engineering, and day-to-day delivery.
• Lead backend engineering with strict operational targets for uptime, data integrity, quality, stability, test coverage, processing latency, release stability, security and incident response.
• Ensure infrastructure efficiency and backend cost awareness across AWS/GCP-dependent.
• Maintain technical documentation, technical decision records, runbooks, onboarding materials, and secure SDLC practices.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering background in production systems and prior experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience designing and operating microservices at scale in complex production environments.
• Strong experience with event-driven systems; event sourcing experience is ideal.
• Strong hands-on experience with backend Python lambda services development.
• Strong experience with AWS serverless and distributed lambda based backend architectures and cost control.
• Data modeling and persistence experience with PostgreSQL and document/NoSQL-style stores, blob storage.
• Strong experience with CI/CD and modern software delivery practices, ensuring code quality and security.
• Experience improving release stability, test coverage, and secure SDLC practices in a live product environment.
• Experience in observability, production support, incident handling, debugging, and operational ownership in event-driven systems with emphasis on availability, stability and performance.
• Ability to ensure performance, reliability, code coverage, and stability in production environments.
• Testing experience in distributed systems unit testing, integration, contract, API, E2E, performance.
• Experience working with third-party and internal integrations.
• Exposure to frequent production rollouts, post-release support, and incident management.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Strong experience leading technical delivery in Agile teams.

Requirements

• Experience with IoT backend platforms, device lifecycle flows, telemetry, or fleet operations.
• Golang experience.
• Experience with AI integrations.
• GCP Firebase experience.
• Awareness of mobile development specifics Flutter/Kotlin and serving mobile applications.
• Exposure to commercial/product integrations such as licensing, ordering, payment, or fulfillment flows.
• Experience working with ensuring production SLAs or SLOs - solution availability, quality, stability, test coverage, security, performance, data quality.
• Experience with solutions in the manufacturing/agricultural sector.
• Experience with AI-augmented development life cycle.
