Role Description

The Principal Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for driving architectural excellence, engineering best practices, and technology modernization initiatives across platforms. This role provides hands-on leadership throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from solution design and architecture definition to implementation, deployment, optimization, and operational support.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in:

• API architecture
• Cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure
• Backend development using .NET technologies
• Modern front-end development using Vue.js and/or React

They will play a critical role in supporting and evolving web applications, leading refactoring initiatives, reducing technical debt, improving system reliability, and ensuring scalable, maintainable, and secure software solutions.

This position requires strong experience designing and supporting enterprise-grade cloud solutions leveraging Azure services including:

• Azure Functions
• Storage Accounts
• Azure Service Bus
• Azure DevOps
• CI/CD Pipelines

The Principal Engineer will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to define technical strategies, establish architectural standards, and guide development teams in delivering high-quality solutions.

Additionally, the role is expected to champion modern software engineering practices, including:

• Test-driven development (TDD)
• Data architecture and database design principles
• Business intelligence and analytics platforms such as Snowflake
• Practical adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows

The successful candidate combines strategic architectural thinking with a hands-on approach, serving as a technical mentor and trusted advisor while actively contributing to the design, development, support, and continuous improvement of technology ecosystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on enterprise web application development.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing software architectures for large-scale, distributed, and cloud-based applications.
• Proven experience serving as a Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, Solution Architect, Software Architect, or similar senior technical leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience leading application modernization, refactoring initiatives, and technical debt reduction programs.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Experience supporting production systems and driving operational excellence in cloud environments.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, domain-driven design (DDD), microservices, and API-first design.
• Strong experience defining architectural standards, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
• Proven ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and make architecture decisions aligned with business objectives.
• Expert-level experience designing, developing, securing, and governing RESTful APIs.
• Expert-level proficiency in C# and modern .NET technologies (.NET Framework, .NET Core, and .NET).
• Advanced expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Strong experience with relational database design, SQL development, and performance tuning.
• Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and stakeholders without direct authority.
