[Hiring] Manager, Software Engineering - Identity Platform @Marqeta

Role Description

As Marqeta's Manager, Software Engineering within our Risk, Fraud and Disputes pod, you will lead the design, development, and execution of our Identity Platform. You will be responsible for building and operating systems that manage the full KYC lifecycle, from Customer Identification Program (CIP) verification at account opening to ongoing Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and continuous risk monitoring.

• Own the end-to-end identity verification lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance at every stage.
• Build and operate systems that enforce KYC obligations across the full framework.
• Drive AI-first automation, reducing manual review rates and increasing efficiency.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
• Act as the technical and business-facing leader in customer and regulatory escalations.
• Partner cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Product, Operations, and Legal.

Qualifications

• Experienced engineering leader (8–10+ years in engineering, 3+ years managing senior and staff engineers).
• Deep backend engineering expertise with a strong foundation in building and scaling backend systems.
• Breadth across the stack, leading teams delivering across multiple product lines.
• Operational excellence and incident management.
• Hands-on AI-first mindset.
• Strong ownership mentality.
• Comfortable engaging directly with enterprise customers and compliance officers.
• Excellent communicator who can lead cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of identity verification, AML/BSA compliance, and regulatory obligations in the financial services or fintech space.
• Experience integrating with identity verification vendors or sanctions screening providers.
• Background in fintech issuing platforms, core banking, or payments operations.
• Prior ownership of KYC/KYB automation initiatives.
• Familiarity with AML/BSA regulatory obligations, OFAC screening, FinCEN CIP rules, or Red Flag program requirements.
