Role Description

We are looking for a Lead Python Developer with AWS expertise to spearhead Treasury technology initiatives. In this role, you will:

• Lead backend engineering efforts.
• Define scalable microservices architectures.
• Drive the integration of diverse data sources into unified data models.
• Collaborate with global teams.
• Lead and mentor engineers across seniority levels.
• Own architectural decisions.
• Shape the technical direction of high-stakes financial applications.

Responsibilities include:

• Define and own the design and implementation of microservices architectures, API gateways, and inter-service communication.
• Lead the development and optimization of backend services using Python and modern frameworks.
• Architect solutions for integrating data from multiple sources (xlsx, pdf, csv, json) into a common data model.
• Establish standards and best practices for building and maintaining REST APIs with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to engineering team members, fostering their professional growth.
• Drive automation strategies and oversee operating system-level operations through shell scripting.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and application issues, guiding the team through root-cause analysis.
• Champion strong test coverage through robust unit testing and test automation frameworks.
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams in an agile environment and represent the team in cross-functional discussions.
• Lead code reviews, drive peer learning initiatives, and set engineering quality standards.
• Partner with stakeholders and product owners to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Python development.
• At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience.
• Deep proficiency in backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, and Flask, including API design and optimization.
• Proven expertise in system design and software architecture, including microservices, API gateways, and inter-service communication.
• Strong skills in designing solutions for integrating data from multiple formats (xlsx, pdf, csv, json) into a common data model.
• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring engineering teams from a technical perspective, including performance guidance and career development.
• Advanced knowledge of shell scripting (e.g., Bash) for task automation and OS-level management.
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems, including process management, basic networking, and application layer integration.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GitHub Actions, and REST API development.
• Strong competency in test automation and robust unit testing practices, with the ability to define testing strategy.
• Experience leading agile teams on complex, high-stakes applications.
• Collaborative leadership mindset with proven ability to work across global teams.
• Experience driving technical decision-making and architectural direction.
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (B2+ level).

Requirements

• Nice to have Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript.
• Finance domain expertise, ideally in Payments or Treasury.
• Familiarity with Dagster, Kubernetes, and Pandas.
• Knowledge of dbt.
