[Hiring] House Engineering Manager - Cloud Automation @DoiT

Role Description

Our House Engineering Manager within the Cloud Automation Neighborhood will be an integral part of our Engineering Leadership team in EMEA. This role is based remotely (no offices) in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Estonia or Israel.

The House Engineering Manager is a hands-on leadership role centered on enablement and delivery. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the House consistently delivers on its commitments by:

• Unblocking engineers
• Maintaining focus
• Creating an environment where the team can perform at its highest potential

This is a technical role: you are expected to review engineering work, provide clear technical direction, and contribute to the codebase when needed.

The scope of the house includes Cost Anomalies, Alert and Notifications and it is an integral part of the Cloud Automation Neighborhood.

Responsibilities

• Team leadership
  • Leading a team of 5 to 10 engineers
  • Driving ceremonies and the day-to-day operations of the team
  • Ensuring team members are unblocked as quickly as possible
  • Managing team member performance and providing continuous feedback and mentoring
• Technical leadership
  • Supporting the engineering release process and monitoring deployments
  • Reviewing pull requests and providing constructive feedback
  • Leading technical design discussions and ensuring alignment on architecture
  • Driving and owning the technical roadmap of the team
  • Maintaining an AI-Driven mindset and evolving the team around AI driven development
• Roadmap & delivery
  • Working closely with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to define, plan, and structure each sprint
  • Translating broader business objectives for the team
  • Planning for incoming business needs and maintaining a house level roadmap
  • Balancing sprint commitments with customer-facing responsibilities
  • Following an AI-Driven software development lifecycle
• Day-to-day communication and collaboration
  • Upwards: Communicating clearly and succinctly with leadership
  • Downwards: Empowering Senior Engineers and coaching team members
  • Sideways: Collaborating effectively with other Houses

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading an engineering team (typically 5+ engineers) in a delivery-focused environment (3+ Years)
• Past experience as a software engineer for at least 5+ years
• Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code and guide design decisions
• Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning and backlog management
• AI-Driven mindset, defaulting to AI while ensuring quality and consistency
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineers through regular feedback
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business context into clear technical direction
• Experience working in a SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environment

Technical Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js or Golang (backend services, APIs, real-time systems)
• Strong hands-on experience with React (complex state management, performance optimization)
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL (Data modeling, time series)
• Deep understanding of modern web architecture, including SPA frameworks
• Solid experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency, availability, observability, and fault tolerance
• Strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management
