Role Description

Our Client is seeking a vision-driven, operationally rigorous Head of Development to take complete organizational ownership of their engineering division. Built on a robust PHP architecture utilizing the Laravel framework, the platform requires an engineering leader who balances high-level systemic strategy with tactical delivery oversight. Leading multiple distributed Agile pods, the successful candidate will own the technical roadmap, design next-generation CI/CD pipelines, optimize database scalability, and instill a high-performance culture characterized by strict code quality standards and continuous individual mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Agile Engineering Leadership & Delivery:
  • Commands and synchronizes multiple distributed Agile engineering teams, driving predictable delivery cadences for global enterprise SaaS products.
  • Optimizes software development lifecycles (SDLC) by systematically improving cycle times, lowering escape-defect rates, and maintaining peak team resource allocation.
  • Runs standing engineering cadences, eliminating workflow blockers, and ensuring technical sprint goals align precisely with corporate product milestones.
• Architecture, Scalability & Infrastructure Modernization:
  • Steers cross-team architectural reviews, formulating long-term blueprints to minimize technical debt, optimize query indexing, and enhance system maintainability.
  • Formulates and deploys modern CI/CD pipelines, integrating advanced automated testing, containerization matrixes, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions.
  • Elevates system resilience, cloud infrastructure scalability, and platform observability parameters across multi-tenant environments.
• Engineering Governance & Team Growth:
  • Establishes and enforces best-in-class engineering standards, managing standardized pull request (PR) code review frameworks, modular Git branching models, and data security gates.
  • Cultivates technical talent from junior to senior ranks, building clear, objective career tracks focused on architectural autonomy and promotion readiness.
  • Serves as the premier cross-functional technical translator, communicating complex systems logic transparently to both engineering staff and non-technical business executives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of verified professional success leading, scaling, and managing multiple distributed Agile software engineering teams within a global SaaS environment.
• Advanced hands-on technical depth within PHP and the Laravel framework, demonstrating mature judgment regarding object-oriented programming, design patterns, and package ecosystems.
• Documented competence designing containerized environments, setting up automated staging tests, and managing production cloud deployments.
• Proven experience introducing code profiling, logging pipelines, and automated security checks into scaling engineering ecosystems.
• Near-native or fully fluent English communication skills (C2 level). The candidate must excel at leading live international standups, technical briefings, and executive strategy sessions.
• Ownership of a high-performance developer hardware array, a dedicated and private remote home office workspace, and a stable, high-speed internet pipeline with structural power redundancies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical exposure scaling databases or caching layers for high-concurrency booking, scheduling, or real-time inventory tracking applications.
• Prior experience managing technical operations for high-volume logistics, mobility, fleet management, or automotive digital commerce platforms.
