Role Description

Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support KITS and our government customer. The position is remote and requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

The Cloud & Security Engineer will be responsible for:

• Configuration management, deployments, pipeline automations, and security aspects of system design.
• Configuration of tools to meet business, policy, and security risk tolerance of customers.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting a WordPress site on AWS running a Kubernetes CI/CD pipeline.
• Managing a production environment running WordPress on AWS, ensuring uptime and business continuity.
• Maintaining and troubleshooting all environments, including developer, testing, and pre-production environments.
• Collaborating with the AWS Architect, Product Owner, Scrum Master, and engineers to define and build service offerings.
• Implementing proof of concepts/pilots for various solutions and developing operational plans.
• Building and implementing all cloud infrastructure for production support calls.
• Running risk logs and collaborating with the ISSO and System Owner to manage risk.
• Providing responses on Common Vulnerability Reports.
• Documenting system boundaries and installing controls relevant to technology.
• Implementing design by installing, configuring, and testing cloud services.
• Participating in assessment of system security controls and performing continuous monitoring.
• Identifying innovative ways to use existing tool sets to automate security management.

Qualifications

• Kubernetes and understanding traffic patterns for high-traffic websites running a Content Management System.
• Amazon web infrastructure and services including Route53, CloudFormation, OpenSearch, Kinesis Firehose, Config, EKS, WAF, CloudFront, EC2 & EBS, RDS, ALB, Certificate Manager, S3, Secrets Manager, Virtual Private Cloud, Lambda, Inspector, Key Management Service, ElasticCache, SES, CloudShell, ECR, CloudWatch, SNS, GuardDuty, CloudTrail.
• Experience managing and deploying pipeline solutions and containerized applications.
• Experience building and supporting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform.
• Proven knowledge in PowerShell and ability to build logical scripts.
• Deep understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and Serverless services on cloud platforms.
• Experienced with Agile methodologies, especially TDD and Scrum.
• Experience with LEMP & LAMP stacks, WordPress installation & configuration, MySQL performance, and scaling.
• Well-versed in the DevOps lifecycle and process improvement strategies.
• Strong analytical skills with solid verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

• BS in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or related IT/security field.
• 5 years of professional experience in IT/network engineering, Cloud, security engineering, system administration, or security operations.
• 7 years’ experience in a security-related role with experience in FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST SP 800-53.
• Ability to communicate contributions in security findings and assessments.
• Experience with Okta and/or Keycloak application integrations.
• Experience managing OpenSearch or ElasticSearch.
