[Hiring] Backend Engineer @EPAM

Role Description

We're looking for a Backend Engineer - A2A Integration to join our team in Portugal in a fully remote working mode. In this role, you will contribute to building the Agent Gateway for an Enterprise Agent Development Platform - a cloud-native ecosystem enabling engineering teams to define, orchestrate, deploy, and observe AI agents at scale. You will design and implement the mechanisms for agent-to-agent (A2A) integration, including:

• Agent card registration
• Target configuration
• API routing
• Invocation patterns

The position requires strong backend engineering expertise combined with a deep understanding of async and event-driven architectures for high-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain A2A Gateway components enabling agent discovery, registration, and interaction
• Implement Agent Card JSON schema and /.well-known/agent.json endpoints for identity and configuration publishing
• Design and integrate A2A invocation patterns, handling JSON-RPC 2.0 messaging, task lifecycle events, and push notifications
• Build and optimize high-performance APIs in Python using async frameworks and AgentCore SDK
• Implement secure and efficient communication flows for agent interactions using REST and streaming mechanisms (SSE)
• Collaborate with platform and orchestration teams to validate integration correctness and performance under load
• Ensure proper observability of inter-agent workflows, promoting traceability and debugging capabilities
• Support the implementation of deployment topologies for specific gateway use cases and configurations

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a backend engineer working with Python or Go
• Strong background in building and integrating APIs, including routing and security considerations
• Hands-on experience implementing REST APIs and asynchronous/event-driven patterns (e.g., SSE, webhooks)
• Understanding of microservice communication and integration patterns in production environments
• Familiarity with schema design and structured JSON endpoints for distributed services

Requirements

• Experience working with AWS AgentCore Gateway and related templates (Nice to have)
• Exposure to AWS Bedrock multi-agent invocation patterns (Nice to have)
• Knowledge of SSE event streaming for task lifecycle handling and scalability (Nice to have)
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing propagation across A2A agent flows (Nice to have)
