[Hiring] Automation Engineer @Voyager Technologies

2wks ago - Voyager Technologies is hiring a remote Automation Engineer. πŸ’Έ Salary: $160,000–$180,000 πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and operating automated solutions that streamline IT and business processes, reduce manual effort, and expand the organization's use of artificial intelligence and agentic workflows. This role bridges traditional scripting and infrastructure automation with modern AI-driven tooling, building systems that act, adapt, and scale with minimal human intervention.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in process automation, scripting, and workflow orchestration, and is actively exploring or applying AI and agentic technologies to solve real operational problems. This is a hands-on engineering role with high visibility and broad organizational impact.

The ideal candidate brings specific experience working within highly regulated manufacturing industries, supporting data operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process & IT Automation
    • Identify, design, and implement automation solutions for repetitive IT and business processes across the organization.
    • Build and maintain automation scripts and workflows using Python and PowerShell, targeting infrastructure management, data movement, reporting, and operational tasks.
    • Develop and manage RPA (robotic process automation) workflows for business process automation where applicable.
    • Integrate automation solutions with enterprise platforms including Microsoft 365, Azure, and third-party SaaS applications via APIs and connectors.
    • Document all automation solutions including design rationale, dependencies, failure modes, and runbooks.
  • AI & Agentic Workflow Development
    • Lead the evaluation and adoption of AI-powered automation tools, agentic frameworks, and large language model integrations within the organization.
    • Design and deploy agentic workflows using frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, or similar, enabling systems to reason, plan, and execute multi-step tasks autonomously.
    • Integrate AI capabilities into existing operational workflows to reduce manual decision-making and accelerate throughput.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify high-value AI automation opportunities and translate them into production-ready solutions.
    • Evaluate and recommend AI tooling, platforms, and vendors in alignment with organizational security and compliance requirements.
    • Stay current on emerging agentic AI patterns, model capabilities, and automation frameworks; bring new approaches to the team proactively.
  • Workflow Orchestration & Integration
    • Design and manage end-to-end workflow orchestration using tools such as Apache Airflow, Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, or similar platforms.
    • Build robust API integrations and event-driven automation pipelines across cloud and on-premises systems.
    • Implement error handling, retry logic, alerting, and observability for all automated workflows to ensure reliability and visibility.
    • Maintain and extend automation libraries and reusable components for use across teams.
  • Infrastructure & DevOps Automation
    • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) for automated testing and deployment of automation artifacts.
    • Develop self-service automation tooling that enables non-engineers to trigger and monitor complex workflows safely.
    • Support cloud operations automation across Azure Government and AWS GovCloud environments.
  • Monitoring, Optimization & Support
    • Monitor automation health, execution logs, and failure rates; implement proactive alerting and self-healing where possible.
    • Perform root cause analysis on automation failures and implement durable fixes.
    • Continuously evaluate and optimize existing automation for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on automation best practices across the Data & Analytics Division.
  • Collaboration & Documentation
    • Partner with IT, data, cybersecurity, and business operations teams to identify and prioritize automation opportunities.
    • Create and maintain thorough documentation for all automation solutions, including architecture diagrams, user guides, and compliance evidence.
    • Participate in sprint planning, architecture reviews, and cross-functional working groups.
    • Mentor team members on automation patterns, scripting best practices, and AI tooling adoption.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field highly desired; or equivalent hands-on experience combined with certifications.
  • 12+ years of experience in automation engineering, DevOps, systems engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and operating production-grade automation solutions at enterprise scale.
  • Hands-on experience designing or deploying AI-powered or agentic workflows in a professional setting.
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments preferred.
  • US Person required, as defined under ITAR/EAR.
