Role Description

As an API Engineer I, you’ll be a part of an amazing team working on our microservice APIs throughout the entire development process. You’ll participate in hack-a-thons, partner with universities on innovation events, and work with our famed Stamford Innovation Station. It’s the ideal time to come aboard. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related degree OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED with knowledge of application development using Java minimum 1 Year of Software Engineering Experience
• Critical Thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills

Requirements

• Minimum 1+ year of applied Java experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellence in technical communication with technical and non-technical peers
• Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence

Desired Characteristics

• Experience in Front End UI development and Backend Java programming
• Familiarity building and consuming web services via SOAP and REST
• Familiarity with common Java frameworks like Spring and Spring Boot
• Familiarity with Jira, Bitbucket, and Git
• Familiarity with continuous integration environments
• Familiarity writing unit and integration tests
• Familiarity with JSON, REST, and XML based web services
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical peers
• Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization
• Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management, and external groups

• Knowledge on AI Tools for Developers (Like GitHub Co-pilot, Rovo etc), Development of AI Agents, Understanding of tools, skills, and Instruction markdown files etc.

Work Timings

2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST. This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
