Role Description
The Trust Engineering team at Airbnb is responsible for building intuitive and delightful experiences while strengthening current offerings and delivering new products to enhance Trust defenses.
- Work cross-functionally with product, operations, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy.
- Drive, lead, and contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Design, implement, and operate resilient and scalable distributed systems.
- Build and evolve platform capabilities to tackle the changing landscape of fraud attacks.
- Provide critical input in the ARI team’s roadmap and technical direction.
- Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of ARI services.
- Mentor other engineers in developing their technical and collaboration skills.
- Advocate and participate in efforts to advance Airbnb’s engineering processes and technical foundations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of industry engineering experience.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Hands-on experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience with service-oriented architectures and developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java/Ruby/Kotlin etc). Familiarity with Scala is a plus.
- Experience with test-driven development, familiar with A/B testing, incremental delivery, and deployment.
- Experience with platform architecture patterns and best practices. Experience with building and leading infrastructure is a plus.
- Experience with GraphQL is a plus.
- Experience with Salesforce or Redis is a plus.
- Experience with the Trust and Risk domain is a plus.
Requirements
- This position is US - Remote Eligible.
- The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
- You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
Benefits
- Base pay range: $204,000 — $260,000 USD.
- This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
