Role Description
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Brokerage Engineering team at Paxos, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and secure crypto brokerage solutions. You will work on mission-critical systems that power billions of dollars in trading volume, ensuring top-tier broker-dealers have access to the most reliable and efficient trading infrastructure.
- Own the full software development lifecycle:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance, scalable brokerage solutions, ensuring reliability and efficiency for mission-critical financial systems.
- Tackle complex technical challenges:
- Break down ambiguous and intricate requirements into actionable technical tasks, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance, security, and scalability.
- Balance trade-offs effectively:
- Navigate key engineering trade-offs, ensuring the right balance between MVP vs. enterprise-grade, time-to-market vs. long-term scalability, and other critical factors.
- Collaborate across teams:
- Work closely with Product, Growth, and other Engineering teams to align technical solutions with business objectives and customer needs.
- Contribute to the future of brokerage at Paxos:
- Play a key role in shaping the next generation of crypto brokerage solutions, ensuring they meet the highest industry standards for performance, security, and availability.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of software development experience, with proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Golang (preferred), Kotlin, Java, Python.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed system design.
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure and tools, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, and AWS services.
- Ability to write high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
- Experience building Compliance solutions (KYC, KYB, KYT) or onboarding or identity platforms is a huge plus.
- A passion for learning and applying new technologies to solve real-world problems.

Eligibility for bonuses is dependent on job level, and actual salary within the range depends on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
- Expected range for the base salary component for candidates located within the United States is: $194,603 — $228,944 USD.
