Role Description
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who has a strong background in people management, technical strategy and execution, and the ability to help grow our organization. You will work directly with the Senior Director of Engineering in our Meeting Intelligence group, and will be helping the company realize its vision of becoming a multi-product suite offering.
A day in the life of a Senior Engineering Manager at Calendly:
- Mentor and grow engineers
- Work alongside engineering, product, and design teams
- Accelerate and empower development teams
- Make a huge impact on the quality and development of a product impacting millions
On a typical day, you will be working on:
- Hiring engineers to build out both new and existing squads
- Solving problems for millions of users
- Driving initiatives that reimagine how the world meets
- Coaching, mentoring, and onboarding new engineering team members
- Ensuring career development, satisfaction, and productivity of engineers
- Identifying future technical needs and creating plans to meet them
- Providing feedback and guidance for continuous growth and scaling
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience leading a team
- 10+ years of overall development experience (Ruby on Rails preferred, other languages such as Python, Go, and PHP accepted)
- Deep proficiency with web application development and SaaS
- Experience planning and leading development efforts on large projects
- Previous experience leading and mentoring teams
- Previous experience in a service-oriented architecture; bonus if you have experience migrating a monolith application into services
- Excellent communicator who can succinctly explain deep technical concepts
- Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies
- Previous experience working within a balanced engineering and product team
- Experience with MVC frameworks for backend development
- Availability for participation in on-call rotation
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America
