Role Description

This role involves developing creative detections to identify a wide range of cybersecurity threats.

Build and maintain threat detection rules using Python, YAML, Databricks, and SQL.
Work closely with the Incident Response Team and Insider Threat Program.
Integrate threat intelligence to enhance detection capabilities.
Utilize internal Yahoo tools, cyber-threat intelligence feeds, and commercial solutions.
Support data processing and analysis using Databricks.
Write and optimize SQL queries for security-related data analysis.
Participate in regular reviews and updates of detection rules.
Engage in threat hunting activities to proactively identify potential security threats.
Author documentation and report on detection rule performance and effectiveness.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Development in Python and familiarity with writing performant SQL queries.
Experience working with SIEM systems.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and machine learning models.
Strong understanding of cyber threat detection frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK or the Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain®.

Requirements

Previous experience with tools such as Databricks and Swimlane is helpful but not required.
