Role Description
As a Mobile Engineer on the PlayerPlatform team, you will develop client-side libraries that are used by millions of people to stream Live, OnDemand, and Recorded content on their mobile devices. Player Platform is a native SDK that powers the video playback experience in Xfinity TV, Contour2, and FreeRange TV mobile apps.
- Provide a video player that integrates with video streaming, content protection (DRM), advertisement, emergency alert, and real-time analytics services.
- Strive to provide a high quality, consistent playback experience across all applications.
What You’ll Do
- Build clean API’s for video playback on mobile devices.
- Build reusable Android software components.
- Design and implement end to end components related to video playback.
- Analyze, optimize, and improve the code base.
Qualifications
- 2+ years software development experience with some experience in Android application development.
- Strong Java programming skills, Kotlin a strong plus.
- Good understanding of OO & functional paradigms.
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
- Willingness to accept mentorship with a desire to grow your skillsets and ability as an engineer and advise other engineering team members.
- Analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Bonus - any experience with video or the ExoPlayer open source project.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Agile software development using continuous integration and deployment practices.
- Skills in Android Software Development, Kotlin Programming Language, Media Streaming, Mobile Development, Video Playback.
Compensation
Primary Location Pay Range: $95,623.44 - $143,435.16. Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, but Comcast may consider applicants with a combination of coursework and experience, or extensive related professional experience.
Relevant Work Experience
- 2-5 Years.
