Role Description
As a IoT Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable backend systems that power our platform, with a focus on integrating new LoRaWAN IoT hardware devices.
- Develop and maintain payload decoders/encoders to support seamless communication between our system and third-party devices.
- Collaborate closely with our SF Bay Area and ARG teams.
- Tackle backend engineering tickets and optimize hardware integrations.
- Contribute to building robust, future-proof code.
- Work integral to scaling our platform and driving innovation across our product offerings.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional work experience building and maintaining IoT and backend systems.
- Advanced English level: strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of LoRaWAN architecture, protocol stack, and network components.
- Experience with LoRaWAN gateways and end devices.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and C/C++ (for embedded systems).
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols - specifically LoRa.
- Familiarity with IoT platforms and cloud services - specifically AWS IoT.
- Experience with IoT communication protocols - specifically MQTT.
- Experience in integrating various IoT devices.
- Experience with PostgresSQL, Git, Docker and Kubernetes (these are desirable not essential).
- Prior experience working in a startup environment.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Ability to complete assigned tickets, dedicating the majority of time to hands-on coding, troubleshooting, and implementation of robust, scalable solutions.
