Role Description
Change.org is looking for an Engineering Manager to evolve and elevate the experience for people who start a petition, a pivotal part of our social change platform. As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll be responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring a 5-person team, working closely with product and design partners to ensure our petition starters have the best experience possible and are set up for success. You will report directly to our VP of Engineering.
- Strategic Leadership: Drive execution, strategic planning, and decision-making that sparks innovation and long-term success.
- Team Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development for engineers at various levels.
- Growth & Culture: Foster a growth mindset and an inclusive, high-performance, high-trust team environment.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Represent the engineering team in cross-functional discussions, working closely with Product and Design partners to align technical initiatives with business goals.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement changes to streamline workflows and boost productivity while keeping to best practices.
Qualifications
- 2+ years as an engineering manager.
- 4+ years as a hands-on software engineer focused on web development.
- 3+ years in at least one of our core languages (Ruby, JavaScript, or Elixir) plus front-end expertise (React/JavaScript/TypeScript).
- Minimum English fluency at B2.
Requirements
- Full-stack development experience with a focus on scalability.
- Solid proficiency in Ruby/Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and GraphQL.
- Robust understanding of SQL-based databases and data schema optimization.
- Experience integrating Generative AI capabilities into products is a plus.
- Some experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and GraphQL layers.
Benefits
- This is a remote role available in two different formats:
- Full-Time Employee: MX$129,000/month gross via a local third-party entity.
- Contractor: MX$167,750/month gross.
- The benefits available and structures of the roles are different.
Interview Steps
- Initial screen with a Recruiter
- Interview with the Hiring Manager
- Team interviews with some Engineering team members which will include: a live coding session, an architecture interview, and an interview with a Product team member
- Executive interview with our CTO
