Role Description

The Senior Strategic Healthcare Partner (SHP), (a non‑demand generating position), takes a holistic, long‑term view of strategic partnerships with key healthcare organizations & entities. The role is accountable for strengthening the organization’s leadership within the Canadian healthcare ecosystem, enabling pharmacist‑led care models, advancing public health priorities (e.g., immunization, prevention), and supporting sustainable pharmacy practice, through compliant engagement, advocacy partnerships, and policy‑aligned initiatives.

The SHP partners with the retail pharmacy and distribution team leadership to co‑create enterprise‑level B2B agreements, strategic frameworks, and partnerships that support pharmacy‑led patient identification, access, and care delivery. The SHP mandate also encompasses cross-functional collaboration to generate tangible quality improvement initiatives that impact patient and consumer access to care. The SHP mindset is driven by customer centricity, collaboration, and a strong understanding of pharmacy practice evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the pharmacy profession subject matter expert within the organization.
  • Act as the main point of contact with pharmacy associations to:
    • Gather insights.
    • Identify collaboration opportunities.
    • Support advancement of pharmacy practice.
  • Monitor and assess changes in pharmacist scope of practice across Canada, including:
    • Prescribing rights.
    • Therapeutic substitution.
    • Expanded clinical services.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to internal stakeholders on the feasibility and impact of pharmacy‑focused initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Retail Pharmacy team.
    • Market Access.
    • Medical and other cross‑functional teams.
  • Gain in-depth understanding of the healthcare environment, the current patient flow, and the general state-of-readiness within the therapeutic area of focus.
  • Develop and explore innovative partnership models, tools, and enablers that support community‑led patient identification, access, and care delivery at scale, including at the community pharmacy level.
  • Support the development of standardized processes and frameworks (e.g., pharmacy‑led workflows, patient identification pathways, care enablement models) aligned with guidelines and expert opinion.
  • Lead the co‑creation of innovative, system‑level solutions addressing legitimate unmet patient or healthcare system needs.
  • Improve organizational understanding of the relevant treatment landscape and pathway to care to help prepare the business for new commercial opportunities.
  • Act as a strategic account expert, leading Pfizer’s partnership with prioritized healthcare leaders to collaborate on initiatives that will improve patient access to optimal care.
  • Identify and develop patient/consumer-centric opportunities that help to address observed gaps and/or barriers in the relevant journeys.
  • Manage a compliant process with stakeholders for implementing strategic healthcare enhancement projects (SHEP) and/or quality improvement (QI) initiatives.
  • Identify and report adverse events and product complaint reports as per Corporate requirements.

Qualifications

  • Relevant University Degree in Business Administration, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated record of success with a minimum of five years of pharmaceutical or healthcare experience in a customer‑facing or strategic partnership role.
  • Independent, self‑starter with a proven ability to work in a cross‑functional team environment.
  • Strong business acumen and an excellent understanding of healthcare and pharmacy market trends and dynamics.
  • Ability to quickly engage senior stakeholders with the goal of becoming a trusted advisor.
  • Established network of key stakeholders, including pharmacy associations or channel strategy is an asset.
  • Superior customer and partnership management skills and competencies.
  • Highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent understanding of the elements and processes around Quality Improvement (QI) work.
  • Project management and delivery experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning abilities with a strong understanding of healthcare and pharmacy system optimization.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to manage change and ambiguity.
  • Proficiency using computer software and digital collaboration tools.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Must have the capacity to frequently travel.

Requirements

  • The annual base salary for this position ranges from $107,400 to $179,000.
  • The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
