Role Description
The Senior Scoping Analyst is a strategic pre-sales professional who bridges the gap between Sales and Delivery by translating complex client objectives into executable, high-margin SaaS implementation plans. This role drives consultative discovery and rigorous commercial architecture to ensure all sold solutions are operationally viable and technically sound. Focused entirely on the pre-sales phase, you will balance client goals with risk mitigation and project margins without engaging in post-sale implementation.
What Youβll Do

Consultative Discovery & Requirements Gathering:
-
Lead pre-sales discovery sessions to uncover client business objectives, define the problem statement, and establish clear, feasible project requirements.
-
Commercial Architecture & Risk Mitigation:
-
Architect comprehensive Statements of Work (SOWs) that translate client business needs into executable project plans.
-
Establish clear project boundaries by rigorously defining deliverables, out-of-scope exclusions, technical assumptions, and objective acceptance criteria to protect project margins and prevent downstream scope creep.
-
Data-Driven Project Estimation:
-
Translate high-level client requirements into detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilize estimation tools/calculators to accurately forecast the level of effort, project duration, and resource requirements.
-
Service Engineering & Delivery Handoff:
-
Treat scoping as a strategic bridge between Sales and Delivery. Ensure that all proposed solutions are structurally sound, feasible, and ready for a seamless handoff to services organization.
-
Contract Negotiation & Deal Desk Liaison:
-
Act as the strategic liaison between Sales, Legal, and Delivery teams during contract negotiations.
-
Navigate SOW redlines and facilitate Deal Desk reviews to align client expectations with corporate risk tolerances.
-
Workiva Solution Validation:
-
Leverage your knowledge of the Workiva platform to validate technical solutions within the scoping process, ensuring they align with client needs for financial reporting, ESG, or GRC.
-
Stakeholder Collaboration:
-
Act as the central point of contact for a matrixed team, including Sales executives, Legal counsel, Finance, and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
-
Quality Assurance & Process Adaptation:
-
Validate and endorse technical solutions within proposals to ensure alignment with the initial implementation strategy.
-
Continuously improve Scoping techniques and tools to support increasingly complex global projects.
